You don’t hear all that much about Thessaloniki as a mainstream tourist destination. People usually pick Santorini, Mykonos or Rhodes as their primary summer vacation spots. Others go for Athens if they’re feeling ambitious. People choose Thessaloniki when they’ve seen most of what Greece has to offer or when all their favourite spots are booked.
